So you've decided you want to feed raw..........
This diet can be a little confusing to beginners, if you are the type of person who likes to research something before jumping in (and in this case as much research as you can should be done before embarking on this diet) you will have by now realised that it's not quite as straightforward as you would expect.
You have to make choices........
This diet requires you to make choices
It requires research and planning, once you are into a routine, it is the easiest thing in the world to do, but you must have a good understanding of the dietry requirements covering all elements in order to make your own choices as to which way you want to do it.
You need to research and read......
As much as you can before embarking on this diet, it is then that you will realise that there is much conflicting advice out there, there are several different methods of feeding raw, as you start to research you will realise that everybody seems to do it differently, the basic principal is much the same, but there are different groups with different ideas as to what is right and what is wrong
You need to understand the possible cons of feeding a diet like this
You have to take responsibility for what you decide to feed your pet, we have talked about all the benefits of feeding this diet, but what about any concerns? Are there any dangers with it ?
You need to weigh up the pros and cons and make the decision yourself as to what is right for your pet, I will try to be objective in this site and point out where things might go wrong, or danger could threaten.
When you have been through this site and followed all the links which I will take you to, you will then be in an informed position to make your choices.
I will also detail my method and why I have made the choices for my dogs to feed in the way I do.
You may decide you want to do it differently, you may decide to adopt my method, you may find a compromise, whatever your choices, I take no responsibility for the welfare of your dog during any transition or implementation of this diet, I am simply here as a guide, I am presenting the facts and the choices as I see them, you must make your own interpretation and do what you think is best for you pet.
Balance....
Our aim is to achieve a BALANCED natural diet, and when we feed raw we do not worry about every meal being balanced....what we are looking to achieve is a ...
BALANCE OVER TIME
Which means just that, as long as your dog is getting a wide variety of RMBs or minces with added bone, muscle meats, offal and veg, with a few extra bits mentioned on the approprite feeding page - THAT'S IT !!!!
The diet in itself is not complicated, the difficulty will lie with which method you choose to adopt.
Will you do the veg thing ......or won't you
Will you feed RMBs ........or will you feed minced products
These are the 2 main choices that you will have to make when planning you diet, there are differing views as to which is right an which is wrong, I will provide you with views from both camps below and leave it to you to decide what you consider right for your pet.
My own method of feeding is detailed here:- The Krisannrio way
Why I made the choices I did..... and just exactly what I do feed, it is meant as a guide only, you can either follow it to the letter or adopt your own method, the choice is yours, but I accept no responsibility should you decide to follow my advice
